Visit Us for Preventive Care
Regular oral exams, ideally twice a year, allow your dentist to ensure that you don't have any oral health issues. If an issue is detected, your dentist can start treatment as soon as possible so it doesn't turn into a larger problem.
During your routine exam, your dentist will take a close look at the health of your teeth, gums, jaw, and bite. Your dentist may also take dental X-rays and perform an oral cancer screening if necessary. We typically perform a dental cleaning during your checkup appointment as well.
Oral Cancer Screening
During your exam, your dentist will use an oral cancer screening device to examine all areas of your mouth for any signs of oral cancer. To the untrained eye, signs of oral cancer can be difficult to detect, so regular visits to the dentist are crucial.
At-Home Teeth Maintenance
While regular professional dental cleanings are important, they're no substitute for good at-home dental hygiene practices. Brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time, and flossing at least once a day play a huge role in the health of your teeth and gums.
Dental Hygiene Cleanings
Having your teeth professionally cleaned is about more than aesthetics. Getting your teeth cleaned at the dentist on a regular basis is an important way we help you prevent oral health problems. A professional cleaning can remove the stuck-on plaque and tartar that is left behind even after you brush.
In addition to flossing and brushing two times a day (for two whole minutes), visiting us at least twice a year for teeth cleanings can help us catch and prevent common dental problems, such as tooth decay (cavities) and gum disease.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride treatment may be recommended for adults or children that are at a high risk of tooth decay. Fluoride is a natural mineral that can help to rebuild the minerals in your tooth enamel to prevent or reverse tooth decay.
